Students Advance to State Contest

Six talented Hart students had their outstanding History Day projects chosen to compete at the California History Day competition in early May in Pasadena.

A dozen Hart students entered their History Day projects in the Alameda County contest, held last weekend at the Oakland School for the Arts. Students were up against stiff competition from students throughout the entire county. More than 100 entries from seven middle schools were in the county contest. Only two winners in each category were chosen to go to state.

Students whose work will advance to the state level are:
Individual Exhibits
Shona McCarthy, Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Group Exhibits
Azi Gomroki and Sarah Yoshioka, Thar She Blows
Charles Jin and Kevin Yi, Civil War Ironclads

Individual Websites
Katrina Zhu, The Underground Railroad

Other students who completed at the county level are Christina Mintine, Aisling O'Farrell, Crystal Tang, Vincent Chang, Alex Lin and Kevin Zhang.

All the students who qualified for state have chosen to compete, taking it upon themselves to pay the associated frees.

Best of luck at state!
