We Are the Champions

Congratulations to the 7th-grade girls basketball team for blazing through this season undefeated to win the Tri-Valley Athletic League championship.

The 8th-grade team had an amazing run this season, too, winning all but two games and capturing the league's second-place title. Go Huskies!

The 7th-grade team sealed the league championship Wednesday evening with a 34 to 14 victory over Harvest Park Middle School. The Huskies finished the season with an incredible 14-0 record.

The top Husky scorers in the championship game were Paige Heacox with 9 points, Caroline McMorrow with 8 points and Sophia Brown and Bailey Craig with 6 points each. Alana Mendez played superior defense against the Patriots' top scorer, limiting her to a mere 6 points.

The dominate Huskies scored an average of 39.5 points per game while limiting the opposition to an average 12.5 points per game. The 7th-grade lady Huskies will go down in Hart history, along with other outstanding championship teams from past years. Coach Steve Maher describes his players as "a wonderful, bright and gracious team."

The 8th-grade team put up a hard fight in Thursday's championship game against Livermore's Mendenhall Middle School, but the opposing team ultimately won the game with a score of 55 to 43.

The Huskies played hard, but trailed at halftime with a score of 28 to 14. Hart gained a narrow single-digit lead in the second half, but Mendenhall withstood the rally to prevail. The 8th-grade team finished the season with an impressive 12-2 record, taking second place in the eight-team Tri-Valley Athletic League.
