We are the Champions

Congratulations to Hart's incredibly talented 8th-grade girls basketball athletes for winning the Tri-Valley Athletic League championship.

The lady Huskies resoundingly beat Livermore's East Avenue Middle School in the championship game Friday with a score of 42 to 23. The Huskies ended the season with only one loss.

The Huskies started the game strong with a score of 6 to 2 in a defensive match in the first quarter. They then outscored East Avenue 8 to 3 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 14 to 5 lead. The third quarter was the turning point, as the Huskies scored an incredible 19 points in some of the best basketball of the season. The third quarter ended with a score of 33 to 13 in favor of the Huskies, who then rolled to the amazing 42 to 23 victory.

As was the case against Mendenhall in the semifinal game, it was the Hart defense that set the stage, limiting the East Avenue offense. Hart's defense is led by Paige Heacox, Bailey Craig, Caroline McMorrow, Ragan Lacy, Olivia Larsen, Alana Mendez, Carolyn Plein and Ashley Crane. Eight different players led a balanced scoring attack for the Huskies, led by Lacy with 10 points, McMorrow with 9, Heacox with 5 and Mendez, Plein, Larsen and Crane with 4 each. Point guard Bailey Craig once again controlled the game from the point, dishing out several nice assists and hitting a three-pointer.
