Smarter Balanced Math Exams

Hart's 8th-graders will be part of a pilot program to assess how well they are doing in math through a series of Smarter Balanced assessment tests.

Tests will be given during math classes starting Wednesday, Feb. 20 and lasting through Tuesday, March 5. Tests will take about three hours total during the course of several days. Participation is voluntary and confidential. Student grades will not be affected by participation.

Students will get the chance to try new online testing software and innovative tests that will ultimately be used on future Smarter Balanced assessments.

Smarter Balanced is a state-led consortium developing exams to assess how prepared students are to graduate from high school and move on to college and/or careers. Hart is among a limited number of schools nationwide chosen to pilot the exams this spring.
