Cheerleaders Win National Title

Congratulations to Hart's amazing cheerleaders for winning the top title at the junior nationals competition held this past weekend at Disneyland.

The Husky cheerleaders beat out 13 other schools to win the medium junior high school cheer novice division. Hart beat both Pleasanton rivals, Harvest Park and Pleasanton Middle School, as well as schools from Northern and Southern California, Arizona and Nevada.

"The girls were amazing at nationals," cheer coach Nancy Jefferies sadi. "They saved their best performance for last, peaking at just the right moment. They deserve this win after the months of preparation and hard work they put in. I am so proud to be their coach. I thank the girls and their parents for all their support this year and making my last year as the Hart cheer coach the most memorable."

After the first round of performances, the top four teams -- Hart, Willow Glen of San Jose, St. Mary's from Southern California and Desert Mountain from Arizona -- advanced to perform in the finals. Hart's final performance was nearly flawless, garnering the cheerleaders an outstanding score of 91.4. It was the highest score the cheerleaders got this season.

The junior nationals contest is hosted by the United Spirit Association (USA).
