Science Stars Rock at Competitions

Congratulations to Hart's genius science students for their accomplishments at recent science competitions.

Hart students took part in their first-ever Science Olympiad competition Feb. 9 at Foothill High School. Thirteen students in teams of two competed with 31 other schools on subjects and projects in math, anatomy, music, rocks/minerals, forestry and more. Huskies competed in 23 events. Our science Huskies made us proud with their strong showing at the Olympiad, winning first place in metric mastery. Students who participated are Asim Biswal, Aaron Guerra, Timothy Kanarsky, Purvaj Kandula, Akanksha Maddi, Jude Magann, Harsha Mudaliar, Zoya Omarali, Nikhil Padavala, Daniel Qian, Deepak Ragu, Amritha Ramalingam and Larry Zheng.

Hart students competed in their second Science Bowl competition on Feb. 23 at Las Positas College in Livermore.  Asim Biswal, Aaron Guerra, Timothy Kanarsky and Nitish Padavala competed as a team against 24 other middle school teams. Hart’s team did incredibly well and almost reached the elimination round and tied with two other schools. Timed questions included math, earth science, space science, biology, chemistry, physics and energy.

A big thanks to Eric Cestra for entering his life science project inthe Alameda County Science Fair on March 9. Eric’s project involved working with a prehistoric shrimp, triops, and studying their third eye’s sensitivity to different colored lights.

Way to go, Huskies!
