DI Teams Head to Global Contest

Congratulations to Hart's two Destination Imagination teams that performed so incredibly well at the state competition in San Diego on March 23 that they qualified to compete at the globals level. Both teams also received the prestigious Renaissance Award at the state tournament.
The two teams -- The Layers of Zephyr and The Other Team -- will head to the globals tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 22. Roughly 1,100 teams from both the United States and other countries will compete at the global competition.
The Layers of Zephyr team also won the special Renaissance Award for the team's skillful execution of a hydraulic system that added efficiency and reliability to their set design and special effect.

The Other Team got the Renaissance Award for their creative use of material, innovation, design and engineering of their props. This will be the team's fourth trip to the global finals. They hope to bring home their third global cup.

"As a DI parent and team manager, I have seen first hand the dedication, motivation and innovation from these students," Jen Berson said. "DI is far more than a competition for our teams. It is an opportunity for students to explore the creative process through teamwork and innovation. Team members are encouraged to use their imaginations, learn new skills and bring their ideas to life."
Destination Imagination is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original and innovative solutions that satisfy the challenge requirements. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills; they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.
