Hart Robot at Maker Faire

Five Hart seventh-graders will be at the Maker Faire the weekend of May 18 to show off their homemade robot and its unique skills.

Students Julian Meyer, Mark Stephenson, William Rose, Cameran Zoghi and Arjun Sethi will present their Robot Pi. The exhibit consists of a 6-foot by 6-foot wooden maze and a NXT robot with a camera. The interactive exhibit challenges participants to blindly maneuver the robot through the maze using only the view from the camera.

The students, inspired by Hart's robotics club, have worked countless hours to build the exhibit and program the robot. They've been experimenting and building various robots, so they were thrilled when their project was chosen as an exhibit in this year's Maker Faire.

Part science fair, part county fair and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come together to show what they have made and to share what they have learned. Click here for more info about the Maker Faire.

The Maker Fair will be held Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the San Mateo County Events Center. Tickets start at $15.
