DI Teams Win at Global Contest

Hart's two Destination Imagination teams came out on top when they competed last week at the global tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee starting May 22.

The Other Team won a second-place trophy for their In Disguise challenge. The team competed against 82 middle school teams in the In Disguise fine arts challenge.

The Layers of Zephyr team got a special Renaissance Award for their hydraulics design and tied for 21st place out of 75 teams with their Wind Visible science challenge.

More than 1,200 teams from 14 countries, 14 Canadian provinces and 44 states competed at the global event. There were 57 teams from California. The University of Tennessee campus was overrun with more than 18,000 people for this spectacular event.

"It was truly an amazing experience," Jen Berson, Zephyr team manager, said. "It was truly an experience that none of us will forget."

Destination Imagination is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original and innovative solutions that satisfy the challenge requirements. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills; they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.

Congratulations to all of Hart's incredible DI team members.
