Congratulations to the five Hart students whose outstanding History Day projects were deemed exceptional enough to advance to the state competition.
The projects of eight Hart eighth-graders were chosen to compete at the county contest on March 18. The contest was held at the Oakland Museum of California.
This year's theme for projects is "The Individual in History: Actions and Legacies." Participation is mandatory for Hart's 8th-graders.
The History Day in California contest will be held April 30 to May 3 in Sacramento. Winners at the state level will advance to the National History Day contest to be held in Maryland in June.
Students who will advance to the state contest are:
Andrew Goard, Eli Whitney
Ayesha Omarali, John Brown
Kelly McDeavitt, Molly McGuires
Arany Uthayakumar, The Lincoln Address
Kemi Kantor, Nellie Bly
Congratulations to students Abby Lourenco, Eric Hitchens and Anna Dotson who also competed at the Alameda County contest. Congratulations also to former Hart student, Jack Reed, now at Foothill, for also advancing to the state contest for his historical paper.
