STEM Steps Registration Open for New Families

The Pleasanton Unified School District is pleased to continue our partnership with the African American Regional Educational Alliances and the Livermore Unified School District in the 2018-2019 school year.
Through this collaboration, we are able to host STEM Steps 5.0 for our students in grades 5-8.
STEM Steps for success is a family membership program that provides culturally relevant academic enrichment and programming and resources for African American families.
Any PUSD student in grades 5-8 may apply to be part of the STEM Steps program. The application deadline is June 8, 2018.

Last Week of School Absences

Parents have the right to excuse their child from school prior to the end date of June 1, 2018. If the front office is notified, the parent will be instructed of our policy related to Independent Study contracts and the PUSD Attendance policy.
Independent Study contracts and Pre-Approvals of Absences will not be approved if the student will not return before the official last day of school.
Any parent/student request for a student to complete a missed assignment and/or assessment is at the discretion of the classroom teacher. Please note the following:
Teachers can (if they choose), provide classwork/assignments to be completed and submitted prior to the student's exit date
Teachers can determine whether or not they will allow students to take assessments prior to the student's exit date
Teachers decide what assignment and assessment grades are used to determine the final grade for the semester.

After School Library Homework Drop-In Program

We are happy to announce our 2017-2018 Homework program will begin on Monday, September 11, 2017.
Thanks to the generosity of parent donations, the Hart Middle School Library will be open Mondays -Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:30 pm. Students are welcome to come to do their homework and seek help from 2 credentialed staff members as needed. Students will be required to sign-in upon arrival and can attend on an as needed basis.

Cheer

Cheer clinic is May 14-16 3:30-5:30 in the gym. Cheer tryouts are May 18 from 3:00-6:00 in the Gym. Students will be getting out of class at 2:50 to attend tryouts. A completed Sports packet must be on file before the student can participate in the clinic or tryout. There is a parent meeting this Thursday May 3 at 4:30 in the library.

Last day to pre-order leis is Monday, May 14. Already a tradition at Hart, 8th Grade Promotion Leis are a magical touch to an already special day. Appreciation Week

Appreciation Week is the perfect time to personally thank your students' teachers and member of the staff who have made a difference in your child's life, for their sacrifices and support throughout the year. While appreciation alone will not reduce the challenges teachers face, it will let them know their efforts are not going unnoticed.

Hart's Open House

We invite you to join us at Hart's Open House this Thursday, May 10. Classrooms will be open starting at 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, you can come and see all the projects your child has been working on this year and also visit next year's potential classrooms.

FOOD TRUCKS will be on campus starting at 5:00 pm until 7:00 so families can enjoy a meal with friends on the quad. Please note, no food is allowed in the classrooms.

NOTICE FROM COUNSELORS: If you would like to speak with your student's counselor or speech-language therapist, please stop by the main office between 5:30 and 7:00 pm.

PUSD Superintendent, Dr. Haglund will be having a community forum at 5:00 pm in the Library.
