Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones are a privilege to have, not an expectation. Student cell phones may be permitted on campus but the following rules must be followed:
- Cell phones must be turned off and completely powered down by the first school bell (not in Airplane Mode)
- Cell phones must be kept in a student’s backpack - not in clothing pockets.
- Cell phones may only be turned back on at the 3:00 PM school bell.
- Cell phones are not allowed to be used in the classroom or with AirPods or In-Ear Headphones unless the teacher gives permission to do so for academic purposes.
- Cell phones are not allowed to be used during transition times between classes or lunch.
- Cell phones may only be used under the direct supervision of a staff member.
If a student violates the cell phone expectations:
1st Time Violation: A referral is written and the cell phone is confiscated by staff and held in the school office until the student can pick it up after 3:00 PM.
2nd Time Violation: A referral is written and the cell phone is confiscated by staff and held in the school office until a parent/guardian can pick up after 3:00 PM. Or the Administration gets verbal permission from the parents to release back to students. In addition, the administration may also issue consequences such as a detention or loss of school privilege.
3rd Time Violation: A referral is written, the cell phone is confiscated by staff and held in the school office until a parent/guardian picks it up. Students must check in their cell phones each day at the main office by the first school bell and pick them up at 3:00 PM for the rest of the Quarter. In addition, the administration may also issue consequences such as suspension.
