8th-grade promotion is an exciting time for our students who will be moving on to high school in the fall. The last couple of months of middle school are a whirlwind of activities as students finish up their studies and plan for fun promotion events.
Here's what's on tap for the 8th-grade Class. Please see the file below for a letter with details about all these events.
Field near basketball courts
The entire 8th-grade class will be included in this wide-lens photo taken in the school's outdoor quad area. The photo will be taken during second period. Parents will receive info about how to order copies.
Promotion party "Seas the Day!"
6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room
Tickets -- $10
Ticket sale dates -- TBA
Tickets will be sold at school during lunch.
Students must have a permission form signed by a parent or guardian in order to attend the promotion party. Students must have the completed and signed form with them in order to buy a ticket.
The promotion party is a prime opportunity for all 8th-graders to get together for an evening of music, dancing, snacks and friendship. The party will be supervised by staff and parents. Commemorative photos will be taken. You will get information about how to buy pictures online.
Students should dress nicely, as if they were going out to a nice restaurant. This is not a formal event. No fancy dresses, gowns or tuxedos.
Girls can wear nice dresses or skirts, pants, capris or dressy long shorts. Boys should wear nice pants or dressy long shorts and a shirt with collar. No board shorts for boys or girls.

Field trip to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo
8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Arrive to board buses by 8 a.m.
Deadline for paperwork -- TBA
Students will enjoy a day of fun in the sun at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
in Vallejo. Chartered buses will transport the kids to and from the venue. The day's activities will be chaperoned by teachers.
The price includes park admission, bus transportation and a bountiful BBQ lunch. Checks may be made to Thomas Hart Middle School.
The regular school dress code applies. No swimsuits.
Students who choose to not participate or are not eligible to participate will be required to attend school and complete classroom assignments.

Students who do not turn in the required paperwork by the deadline will not be allowed to attend this activity.

Hart's Steve Maher Gymnasium
Students must arrive at school at 4:15 p.m. Students should report to their 1st-period classroom and teacher.
Due to limited seating, we ask that the number of guests per student be limited to four people. Seating is provided on folding chairs. Please arrive early to ensure good seating. Dress accordingly based on the day's weather. The gym is neither heated nor air conditioned.
The regular school dress code applies for students.

School ends at 12:39 p.m.
8th-graders will get their promotion certificates on June 2, the day after the promotion ceremony and the last day of school. It is too difficult to get personalized certificates to the right students with so many students taking part in promotion. Certificates will be given to students during advisement classes.
